COFFEE TO GO. SOMEWHERE NICE.

Like many of us, I buy take away coffee much less than I used to. And when I buy coffee out, it’s more of a special occasion. I’ll have it in the cafe, in a real life ceramic mug, with your current reading material (I’m currently trying to read more classics so it’s Crime and Punishment by Dostoevski for me.)*

But also, I’ve rethunk my take away coffees. Just because I make it home, doesn’t mean I have to stay there. And doesn’t mean it can’t be a special occasion. Revolutionary I know. But if you need a reminder that you probably own several reusable travel cups, and it’s nice to leave your house or office sometimes – here are some places you could take your home made, special occasion coffee to.

AN ART GALLERY: Slow brew a cup of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe and wander. The mixed berry & bergamot notes pair well with Mark Whalen’s quirky sculptures, exhibiting at Station. Sweet and complex.

A STROLL IN THE COUNTRYSIDE: Or, a free guided walk of the botanic gardens. Sipping Brazil Araujo with its blood orange, mango and toasted nut notes will get you into the rambling berry shrubs mood. Which, yes, is more of an English countryside activity, but you get the gist. And while you’re getting educated about botanic life, know that you’re supporting an initiative that supports farmers, promote education and business opportunities for women. Nice!

THE MOVIES: Ethiopia Almaz Mamo. Dark chocolate, plum. Moody, rich, sultry. Enjoy it while taking one of the free cinema sessions at Art Gallery NSW. Currently showing are the films of filmmaker Shōhei Imamura, an excellent way to spend a moody, rich and sultry Sunday afternoon.

BY THE SEASIDE: Make yourself a Brazil Araujo, grab a pal, your current reading material, and a towel (and your sun safety) and head to the cafe with the best view in town (ie. your chosen picnic spot). Cafe le Towel is a bright, tropicana inspired venue, and the coffee tastes of mango, blood orange, toasted almonds, and sunshine.

Bon appétit et bon voyage!

*Yes I am bragging.
