CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE

Gift giving is a gift. Not in the way that being generous to others boosts your own sense of joy, which is true, sure, but in the way that gift giving is a talent. One that I don’t possess. It gives me a sense of anxiety that if I don’t get the perfect gift – something that has a high command of form and functionality, encapsulates their essence, sparks joy, leaves me with enough money to buy groceries, and will arrive by Christmas – I will have failed as a daughter, friend, and human.

Not this year. This year I choose to care less. You know why? Because when my grandma gives me a knick knack that is going straight into a box in the garage with the other bespangled, kitsch knick knacks, I still love my grandma.

This year I’m taking the pressure off, enlisting the help of this handy guide, which incidentally ticks all the form, function, essence, economical, postal and joy sparking boxes with aplomb.

Sparkle blend

Our annual Christmas blend! It’s so tasty, so festive, it’s like an orange marmalade, panatone plum rum ball. It’s for anyone that loves coffee with milk, black, or with a dash of festive liquor. Rum, bourbon, brandy, aperol or triple sec would be my go to’s. How good would this be as an addition to a Negroni? Very.

$20 | 250g

Home Barista Hero Course

Such a good idea for anyone who has a home espresso machine. An even better idea if you live with someone who has a home espresso machine and makes coffee for you. The trainers are friendly, know their way around an espresso machine, and most importantly, know how teach you how to know their way around one. Easy to book and it’s on sale right now!

A coffee gift box

What’s twice as good as a bag of coffee? Two bags of coffee. One bag of our beloved Liberty Blend full of chocolate and caramel notes with a sparkle of peach, and a bag of fresh single origin for a bit of extra dazzle.

$34 | 2 x 250g

Coffee tasting experience gift voucher

This is all about pairing good food and good coffee that is more than the sum of its parts. This 30 minute fight of 4 different coffees, married to 2 different snacks, was curated by Q Grader and Black Market Co Founder Jess Hol, and Sommelier Matt Dunne, and is a wonderful time in and of itself, but also will deepen your knowledge about flavour profiles and pairings, and how to play around with it yourself. As if we needed more encouragement to eat more snacks with coffee.

And it you get a tour of the roastery! What a time.

Merch!

My family don’t drink coffee. I know. But they do wear clothes. I can very much attest to the quality and softness of these tees, I love mine, and so will my father. And this cap is going to keep my mother sun safer and hipper than anyone on the golf course.

Caps $39 | Tees $49

Remember, you will be loved even if you give them a snow globe from the $2 shop. But getting something from this list is pretty easy. In any case, a very merry Christmas from our fam to yours!
