TWO SILLY SEASON SPARKLE PUNCHES

TWO SILLY SEASON SPARKLE PUNCHES

Here are two Christmas coffee punches using all seasonal ingredients. By which I mean ‘tis the season to be jolly, festive and sillier than usual, so we have two mulled coffee recipes using our seasonal Sparkle blend – one jolly and festive, the other jolly, festive and very silly. Because of the fire.

Both recipes serve 8, but can be scaled up or down. Remember to include a cup for Santa in your calculations. He prefers the second recipe, paired with a mince pie.

Our first mulled coffee recipe has the tingling tartness of cranberry and orange, and the spiced depth of cardamon, cloves and coffee. Gather round ye merry ingredients!

Mull

  • 1 L cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup (100g) dark brown sugar
  • 4 smashed cardamon pods
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • 2 sticks of cinnamon
  • 4 cloves
  • 5cm knob of ginger – thinly sliced
  • 2 strips orange peel
  • 4 orange rounds (plus extra for garnish)

Chuck all the mull ingredients into a pan over a medium heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile

Make a filter using 60g of Sparkle and 1L water using your favourite batch brew method. I’m going to plunge. Keep it simple.

SHOWTIME!

Combine the mulled cranberry with the Sparkle batch brew, ladle into warm mugs, dunk in your garnishes and serve.

Get Mullin’

Throw all the mull ingredients into a pan and warm over low to medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.

Meanwhile

Make a filter using 72g of Sparkle and 1.2L water using your favourite batch brew method. For this one, because my plunger isn’t big enough, I’m using my Behmor.

SHOWTIME!

Gather round ye merry wassailers! This could be the Christmas spectacle of the season! It could be a flop. Either way your audience will enjoy themselves.

Scoop a ladle of mull, light it with a match, and gently lower the ladle back into the mulled pot and watch the flames dance and shimmer and frolic! After 3 minutes, extinguish the fun with the lid, mix in the batch brew, pour into warmed mugs, garnish with your garnish of choice, and be jolly!
