COFFEE OF THE MONTH: MARCH

We’re showcasing this juicy, syrupy sweet coffee from Burundi. It is grown in the Bubanza region, which is located in the northwest of the country. At an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level, the coffee plants in this region benefit from a cooler climate and nutrient-rich soil. The combination of this unique terroir and the high altitude contributes to the complexity and sweetness of the beans. Burundian coffee is therefore known for its unique flavour profiles, that are characterised by a combination of bright acidity, fruity sweetness, and floral notes.

This coffee itself is bursting with flavour. The panela notes give it a rich, caramelised sweetness that is reminiscent of brown sugar or molasses. This sweetness is perfectly balanced by the bright acidity of the red apple notes, which add a crisp, refreshing taste to the coffee. The soft floral notes add an elegant touch to the flavour profile.

We’ve roasted it carefully on a medium level to highlight its fruity sweetness. When the sugars in the coffee beans are carefully caramelised during the roasting process, they create a thick, syrupy mouthfeel and a bold sweetness that will stay in your mouth and will have you wanting more.

Go, get it!
