CHRISTMAS FIKA!

‘Tis the season all about getting into the Christmas spirit by getting together with your crew, peripheral crew, and crew-in-laws. So many loved ones around you! All the time!

Here are some serving suggestions for how to get into the Christmas spirit all by yourself.

LISTEN

Paul Kelly’s Christmas Train

Such a great soundtrack for the season. It features one of Australia’s greats, other vocal gems like Kate Miller-Heidke and the Dhungala Children’s choir, and a Hawaiian steel guitar.

EAT

Make some gingerbread folk. Icing these guys always puts me into a zen like flow state. Or these classic rum balls get me into a zen like blotto state.

DRINK

Our Christmas season Sparkle Blend which tastes a good deal like the aforementioned rum balls. Great as an espresso, or I’m thinking also as a cold brew over ice with a healthy dash of rum, a splash of ginger beer, a squeeze of lime and a sing-along to the The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York. I’m calling this Thunder n’ Lightning. Which is like a dark n’ stormy but with sparkle.

MAKE

Something crafty. This is a necessary requisite for the season. For something super kitsch try these coffee bean baubles. I recommend using Kenyan Peaberry for this for that juicy, recurrant aroma. Just kidding. Do not waste your good beans on this. This is a job for the home brand supermarket special beans. If you don’t have time for this (if I’m being honest, these are more intricate than what I’m looking for in a craft), on your next venture from the house, gather a handful of twigs, tie them up and hang them somewhere with twine or elastic bands. It’ll look super festive I promise.

Merry Christmas everybody!
