THE GREAT COFFEE OUTDOORS
Good coffee tastes good all the time (presuming you’ve made it good too), but good coffee tastes even better when you take it outdoors. And if you’ve made it outdoors as well, brought your butane gas burner, Aeropress Go, Porlex and aluminium boiler pot, found a rock to perch yourself on and a level(ish) patch of dirt to wedge your cup in, well, that is going to be one tasty tasty cuppa.
So, in light of the spectacular single origin line up we have currently, we’re pairing them with the spectacular amount of outdoors we have, to bring out the choicest characteristics of both.
In the bush. We’re pairing a coffee stop in the bush for your morning tea break on a hike with the Brazil Araujo Natural. Because you’re out in nature. But more so because it’s tasting notes of blood orange, mango and toasted nuts with go very well with your trail mix.
By a lake. So I’m imagining quite a Georgian-esque lakeside scene, with rolling green grass dotted with flowers and wild strawberries, but any body of water side will do. Whatever the water, the Ethiopia Almaz Mamo, with its notes of macerated strawberries, 70% dark choc and delicate plum acidity will accompany the scenery perfectly.
On top of a mountain. You’ve scrambled to the top. You’ve climbed to the lofty peaks. You deserve the best. So we’re pairing this with the Nicaragua Supernatural , a micro processing station that only accept the highest quality coffee. This naturally processed coffee has notes of grilled pineapple and cherry ripe, and is so silky smooth, so balanced, and so sweet, you’ll feel on top of the world. Because you are.
On my porch. This Rwanda Nyakarenzo is what I want for a lazy Sunday arvo coffee. Sitting out on the patio, balcony or sunny spot by the window of your studio apartment, watching the bees (or pedestrians) buzz about, soaking up the sun and the warm fruity cherry and blackberry flavours and sweet caramel, paired with a good book and a blueberry crumb slice.
So now it’s officially Spring, grab a picnic blanket, your hiking boots or a fold out chair and get outside for the best brew you’ve had in a while.
